Gun Lake Casino hosts benefit blood drive Wednesday, March 4th for Gilda’s Club

Gun Lake Casino hosts benefit blood drive for Gilda’s Club   (Wayland, Mich.) – Gun Lake Casino will partner with Michigan Blood to host a blood drive to benefit Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, a non-profit providing free support to cancer patients and their families. The blood drive will be on the casino property in Wayland, Mich., on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.   “We’ve enjoyed working with Michigan Blood and Gilda’s Club over the last few years,” said Brent Arena, vice president and general manager for Gun Lake Casino. “This blood drive is a great way for us to help both of these great organizations to reach their goals.”   The blood drive will take place at the west entrance of the casino from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As a special thank you, each donor will receive a certificate for $10 in free slot play and a free t-shirt. Certificates will be redeemable at the Gun Lake Casino Rewards Center.   Of the blood provided by Michigan Blood, much of it is used to treat cancer patients. Gun Lake Casino and Michigan Blood hope to help Gilda’s Club by tying the blood drive to Laughfest, which begins March 5.   “Cancer patients often need red blood and platelet transfusions to counter the effects if their cancer treatment. In fact, about 33% of the blood collected goes to cancer patients,” said Carleen Crawford, director of community relations for Michigan Blood. “We are pleased to partner with Gilda’s Club, LaughFest and Gun Lake Casino to host this important blood drive and perhaps help a cancer survivor laugh again.”   Donors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 1-866-MIBLOOD or visiting miblood.org, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors must be at least 21 years old. – See more at: Gun Lake Casino Press Release
