WAYLAND AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES COUNTRY CAT LADY AS 2022 CHAMBER CHARITY RECIPIENT

WAYLAND AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES COUNTRY CAT LADY AS 2022 CHAMBER CHARITY RECIPIENTCountry Cat Lady

The Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce have proudly announced that Country Cat Lady of Wayland have been selected as the recipient of this year’s Charity of Choice.

The chamber is honored to select annually a charity to raise awareness and funds for at various events throughout the year including, but not limited to, the Annual Chamber Business Expo and the Annual Chamber Golf Outing.

The Country Cat Lady’s goal is to support community members with special needs, disabilities, high risk youth, foster children, military veterans, and senior citizens. All sessions are tailored specifically for each client’s needs.

Country Cat Lady supports our local shelters by taking in young kittens with or without their mother. Many shelters do not have the facilities or time to care for the babies and because of this their survival rate is very low and the euthanized rate is high. Rescuing cats as young kittens makes it possible to hand raise the babies to make great therapy cats and amazing pets. Country Cat Lady understands that not every kitten will grow up to like the job of a therapy cat, and that cats will work for a while then need to be retired from therapeutic work. These cats will always have a home at CCL until they are adopted into a permanent home.

Jen Kuyt, owner of Country Cat Lady, stated, “Country Cat Lady is honored to be selected at charity of the year.  As post-covid world opens up we can’t wait to refocus our efforts on supporting our local community.  This financial gift will help make repairs to our building so we can focus more on supporting others and moving forward with expansion plans to better serve our community.”

In order to be included for selection as the charity recipient, interested organizations must complete an application process that includes describing their mission, goals, and objectives. The Chamber Board of Directors reviews the applications and takes a vote to determine which charity to adopt for the year.
