Chamber’s 11th Annual Expo – Another Huge Success
Despite the bleak weather, the crowds began gathering more than thirty minutes prior to the doors opening to be first in line for the 11th Annual Chamber Business Expo. Those who attended, were able to visit with businesses, organizations, and non-profit agencies from Wayland and the surrounding communities. Guests also had an opportunity to enter to win prizes and give-a-ways at various booths. The “Taste of Wayland” Food Court had lines out the door for much of the event. The food court allowed guests to meet local bakeries, restaurants, delis, specialty food stores, caterers, and more – to obtain a sampling of something they offer as well as pick up information or coupons about their establishments.
Local law enforcement and emergency officials were also on hand to meet with guests and pass out information. Free shredding services were available for guests to shred up to 25 lbs worth of material. Educational presentations were performed by Critchlow Reptile Sanctuary which were a huge hit with both kids and adults. Jazz music was performed by Mood Swings. In addition, guests had the opportunity to visit with Griff from the GR Griffins and UB Roo from United Bank.
Prizes were passed out in various categories for booths that stood out to judges Mike Selden (City Manager, City of Wayland), Norm Taylor (Superintendent, Wayland Union Schools), & Tim Bala (Mayor, City of Wayland). This year’s awards went to Dorr Veterinary Clinic for Most Educational, Hardings Market for Best Use of Products, Boy Scouts for Best Non-Profit, Awesome Chocolates for Judges Choice, and Vann’s Valley Event Center for Best of Show.
The Chamber is already busy planning their 12th Annual Expo – scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016. To help guests plan for this spectacular annual event, the Chamber consistently holds the event on the first Saturday in October of each year.
