On Friday, July 17th, Wayland will be hosting an exciting 5K glow-in-the-dark night run. This is the second glow run for the community and the committee is thrilled to bring this exciting 5K back for it’s second year!  The run is titled “Light it Up” and the  goal is to offer a fun event to kick-off the Wayland Main Street Annual Summer Celebration held the following day. Both events are fantastic opportunities to invite visitors to our great community to show them how wonderful Wayland is!

The 5K adult run will begin at 9:45pm which will be perfect for the runner’s glow swag to light up the night. The run will begin and end near the Henika District Library.  There is also a 1-mile kids run beginning at 8:00pm, also beginning near the Henika District Library.  The race will be professionally chip-timed by Classic Race Management, professionally emceed by TV/Radio personality Gerry Barnaby, and will feature a deejay for a post-race dance party downtown near the start/finish line.

Like any major race, it is vital that the safety of the runners is a top priority. To ensure their safety, the streets that comprise the course will be closed during the kid’s race as well as the full 5K race.  For additional information or to register, please visit www.lightituprun.com or like “Light it Up” on Facebook.
