Wayland Memorial Day Events Announced

All are invited to Wayland VFW Post #7581 Annual Memorial Day events scheduled for Monday, May 28th.  Veterans are needed for cemetery honors and parade participation. The bus for the cemetery honors will depart at 7:45 am from the Wayland VFW.  The cemetery schedule is: 8:30am Hooker, 9:00am Native American, 9:25am Germond, 9:45am St. Cyril’s, 10:00am Hill, 10:20am Elmwood.

For those who would like to be part of the parade, all walkers are to be staged in the field across from the MI State Police Post no later than 10:30am. All floats are to be in line by 10:00am on Dahlia Ave. Please do NOT block driveways. Please take Park Street or Mill Street to Dahlia Ave as it is much to difficult to turn around on Dahlia to face the correct direction if you take Main St or Park St.

Beginning at 11:00am is the Annual Memorial Day Parade beginning at the MI State Police Post and concluding at the Wayland VFW Post 7581.  For parade details and City Police parade rules, please view https://www.waylandchamber.org/eventscommunity. At the parade conclusion, the public is invited to the VFW to enjoy the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Mayor Bala’s Famous Cole Slaw and Baked Beans.  The cost of the lunch is $7 for the complete meal. Sandwiches only can be purchased for $4 each. Cash or checks only please.
